This is the abandoned Catholic mission house at Avvajja, which dates back to the 1930's. There used to be a settlement here, and you can still see the flat circles on the land where the houses used to stand, but the population moved into Igloolik once it was established in the 50's and 60's. Now the mission house is used as a shelter for cooking hot dogs and making hot chocolate while people pass through Avvajjaq, but not much else.
